ITINERARY
A cultural journey from Marrakech to the heart of the Sahara
Day 1 – Arrival in Marrakech
Day 2 – Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Dades Valley
After breakfast, we head south, crossing the High Atlas mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka pass, at 2,260 meters of altitude. The journey offers spectacular landscapes, Berber villages, and natural viewpoints that reveal the grandeur of Morocco. We stop at a local women’s cooperative dedicated to the artisanal production of argan oil. This is an opportunity to learn first-hand about their traditional process and understand its social and economic impact on the community.
We continue to the ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a historical and cultural gem declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its adobe alleyways, defensive towers, and ancient architecture transport us to remote eras. This location has also been the setting for cinematic productions such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy.
Lunch with views of the fortified village and continuation towards Ouarzazate, where we visit the Kasbah of Taourirt, a former Pasha’s residence and a key piece of history in Southern Morocco.
The route continues through palm groves and valleys until we reach the Dades Valley, where we enjoy dinner and stay in a traditional kasbah surrounded by an imposing natural landscape. 🛌

Day 3 – Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
We start the day by touring the Dades Valley and its unique rock formations, known as “the monkey fingers.” We continue towards the Tinghir palm grove and arrive at the majestic Todra Gorges, an impressive natural canyon where the walls reach up to 300 meters high.
We proceed towards Erfoud, famous for the extraction and transformation of millenary fossils. Here we can discover the curious process of working these unique pieces, which reveal the geological history of the Sahara.
The road finally leads us towards the desert, where the dunes begin to appear on the horizon. In Merzouga, we exchange our vehicles for dromedaries and embark on a trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, just in time to witness the sunset, an unforgettable spectacle.
We arrive at the Berber camp, where a traditional dinner, live music, and a magical night under one of the most stunning starry skies in the world await us.

Day 4 – Merzouga – Rissani – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
We wake up early to experience one of the most special moments of the trip: the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, we head towards Rissani, the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty and a former caravan enclave. We continue along the route of Berber villages until we reach the Draa Valley, one of the most extensive and fertile palm groves in Morocco.
We pass through the traditional villages of Nkob, Tazarine, and Agdz, traversing landscapes that combine oases, mountains, ksars, and historic kasbahs.
We return to Marrakech in the afternoon and stay once again in a traditional riad. Free time to walk around, discover the Medina, visit Jemaa el Fna square, or simply rest.
