Kédougou, known as the Bassari Country, is one of the least explored and least visited regions of Senegal, yet it is undoubtedly the most authentic in terms of ancestral traditions and wild nature. This region is home to three ethnic groups: the Peul, the Bédik, and the Bassari, each with its own customs and beliefs. On this journey, you will delve into the heart of rural Senegal and discover its “forgotten civilizations” while enjoying the magic of Dakar and the most breathtaking landscapes.
Day 1 - July 28: Origin – Lac Rose
- Arrival at Blaise Diagne International Airport.
- Transfer to Lac Rose (Pink Lake) and accommodation at Hotel Chez Salim.
Day 2 - July 29: Lac Rose – Gorée – Lac Rose
- Breakfast and departure to Dakar.
- Ferry to the legendary Gorée Island (20 minutes). Visit to the House of Slaves and the Castel, where we will learn about the history of the slave trade.
- Return to Dakar for a city tour and visit to the African Renaissance Monument.
- Back to Lac Rose. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Chez Salim (Half Board).
Day 3 - July 30: Lac Rose – Kaolack
- Breakfast and a 4×4 tour around Lac Rose, the final stage of the famous Dakar Rally. We will observe salt extraction from the lake and learn about its economy.
- Continuation of the journey to Kaolack. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Relais de Kaolack (Half Board).
Day 4 - July 31: Kaolack – Mako
- Departure towards Eastern Senegal. Enjoy idyllic landscapes, from the savanna to the jungle. Stopovers in villages and markets.
- Arrival in Mako and visit to the Badian village.
Dinner and accommodation at Eco Campement Badia (Half Board).
Day 5 - August 1: Mako – Iwol – Bandafassi
- Breakfast and departure to Bandafassi, a Bédik village.
- A stop in Kédougou to visit its local market, followed by a 300-meter hike up to Iwol, to encounter the Bédik people, one of the nation’s most ancient ethnicities.
- Continuation to Bandafassi.
Dinner and accommodation at Campement Chez Léontine (Half Board).
Day 6 - August 2: Bandafassi – Dindefelo – Kédougou
- Breakfast and departure to Dindefelo. A 1.5 km hike to the stunning Dindefelo Waterfall, where we can enjoy a refreshing swim.
- Picnic or lunch at one of the camps.
- Return to Kédougou.
Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Le Bédik (Half Board).
Day 7 - August 3: Kédougou – Mbour
- Morning departure to Mbour.
- Afternoon arrival. Dinner and accommodation at Hotel Ndaali (Half Board).
Day 8 - August 4: Mbour – Port of Mbour – Departure
- Breakfast and visit to the Port of Mbour to witness the arrival of the fishermen.
- Rest of the day free to enjoy the beach or explore the Somone Lagoon.
- Afternoon transfer to the airport for farewell and return flight.
